What Is It?
This elective course introduces students to the fundamentals of solar energy and photovoltaic (PV) technology through an engaging, hands-on engineering project — designing, building, and testing a solar-powered car. Serving as an extension of the CTE Engineering Pathway, this course integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts with real-world applications in renewable energy.

Solar Car Technology 1 and Solar Car Technology 2.
What To Expect
Students will demonstrate both theoretical understanding and practical skill in renewable energy systems. The culminating solar car project showcases their ability to apply engineering concepts, collaborate effectively, and innovate creative solutions for a sustainable future. Students will have the opportunity to compete in the annual Solar Car Challenge held in Fort Worth, TX.
